Our clients wanted to extend the ground floor of their house to the rear to create a larger and better kitchen-dining area that opens on to the garden, create a utility room, and convert their front dining area into a study/ guest room. In addition, they wanted to extend the first floor by less depth than the ground floor but sufficient so that the rear bedroom becomes bigger and to create a new en-suite for their bedroom.
Our solution creates a continuous roof light the full width of the existing rear elevation, which, together with the sliding folding doors to the garden, floods the extended kitchen/dining/family room with light. Two first floor extensions provide space for an en-suite to the master bedroom and an enlarged third bedroom. The space between them provide the opportunity for another rooflight, which will create a pool of light at the new door into the kitchen.
We obtained planning permission and building regulations approval in 2017 and the work started on site in March 2018 and was completed by the end of July 2018 under our supervision.
